I particularly like this post;
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/10/uks-o2-to-impose-3g-data-limits-for-iphone-4-users/
Personally I don't care, I don't use that much anyway. I leave my WiFi on connect to my remembered places or OpenZone anyway.

The networks should be more than capable of handling the data without charging people so much for it.
What exactly is the excuse? More people using it than ever so they'll make the money there instead of via international calls or something?

It's like buying petrol.
Even though it's a 'luxury' you still have to buy it, the same as 99% of people with a smartphone.

I currently pay £45/month on an 18 month contract for 1200 mins, unlimited texts (which can also be used for MMS), unlimited (fair use) data.
The revised tariffs would force me on to either a 24 month contract, or extra £5 per month (plus data fee's if I exceed the 750mb monthly limit, which I currently do)
Why is it suddenly changing?
I say they're robbing cnuts.. they know people will still go ahead and upgrade, so they're cashing in IMO.

because ofcom say that excessive use hinders other customers, and so they make us apply limits.

ofcom dont make public stuff like this, they publicise things like network strength, they dont headling chanegs in ts and c's etc
however if you call ICSTIS, which are the regulatory body of communications and charges, they can tell you also.

Bubble that's one of the worst excuses you've ever had in a history of bad excuses.
You impose crap limits because ofcom say so, really?

I struggle to see why everyone doesn't get why they do it. They are a business. Every other company has done it. By doing it they will make more money from it.
To me thats a no brainer.
Bear in mind that only 3% of accounts use more than 500MB a month it will not affect most users.

I get they are a business, 500mb is taking the piss though when phones are coming out that can easily use more than that.
I don't buy this only 3% either, if it's only 3% who use over that why not just leave it 'unlimited' and keep everybody happy? Surely that would make more business sense.

o rly?
so u think its not possible that ofcom received that many complaints (cue the london o2 data saga) and so therefore imposed limits to make it fair for other data users????
i did say this about 6 weeks ago, and was met with "o2 wont do that" blah blah
bandwagon-jump on.

So ofcom said the networks had to impose limits, that's what they said, are you sure?
Are you sure they didn't say that it had to be addressed and what the networks have done is impose low limits instead of improving the infrastructure?
