My gf has the shitty htc wildfire which is a complete joke tbh.
Anyway she got a pop up message saying something about the home page set as default but now where that grey bar with the call, keypad button below the weather it appears to have disappeared and now its just an icon which you drag up to view the menus, apps etc.
When we also try and change the scenes it doesnt ask you to save which ever one you select.
Any ideas? I have tried going to the htc sense app and clearing it but that just deleted her saved personal scenes.

have you tried:
go to manage applications. go to the home application and clear the default. press the home screen and it should ask you to pick a home setting. put a check in the box and choose sense. that should do it

What don't you like about it out of interest?

She presses on one contact and it will come up one she didnt click on.
The apps normally crash and come up messages saying they have to close.
When typing messages it takes a while for the letters to appear so you could write a whole tet message and then you can sit back whildt watching the phone write the rest of it.
We downloaded the updates using wifi and it crashed after installing and then after taking the battery out a few times it wouldnt switch completely on and then it eventualy did.
For a cheap phone you still shouldnt have any silly problems though.

Of all those issues, the one in bold is the one i see every now and then. The processor in it isnt the best in the world, but you have to be a fooking amazing text message composer to have to wait for the phone to catch up on a full message
Anyway, i arent helping things...i was just interested to see what issues you're having. As John says, sounds like something is wrong with the handset its self tbh,

I am being a bit over the top with the text thing but it is quite slow.
Think she is going to try updating the firmware via a pc and if that doesnt work then its getting returned

With your woman's Wildfire, has it got vibration feedback when you type on the keyboard? If so, turn that shit off and the keyboard will work much better!
