Guys,
Now that AV Forums have stopped the sale of mobile phones where is a good place to look?
I don't want to pay the overly inflated ebay prices!
If it helps I am after an HTC Desire on O2

I got my latest Desire on ebay, was cheaper than anywhere else, £270 brand new a month or so ago.

After paying for a contract sim surely its just as cheap to get one on a cashback contract?

Already in a contract, in which I got a desire, then got an iphone, then got a desire again, I'm not down any money.

Trade in value for a second hand Desire is £170
So I don't fancy paying close to £300 which is what they are going for on Ebay. I am happy with a second hand one for now. It's just to tide me over until the next iPhone comes out

Trade in value normally has no relation to what they are selling for, that's just unrealistic.

Maybe add £25-30 to cover the charger and condition of the handset.
They are cheap devices. We have a society of people inflating the prices which does no-one but the sellers any favours

Handsets are expensive unless subsidised
I'm not sure where you are getting this trade in thing from, since when have you ever got near market value for trading in anything?

When I traded my N95 8GB in I got the same price trade in as the average Ebay sale.
The physical device is dirt cheap. It's the inflated costs that make them seem expensive.

Sorry if it's common knowledge but why have AV forums banned the sale? People cancelling contracts halfway through and choosing to sell the phone on rather than send it back to the company?

I think it was starting to be a hotbed of people selling stolen phones.
Lots of phones being IMEI blocked after sale for example.

AV Forums seem to be allowing phones to be sold again:

The physical devices aren't dirt cheap, obviously they aren't sold at cost price, that would be stupid, the only reason so many people have expensive phones now is because they pay 40 quid a month instead of £500 in one go.

Devices trade in value is based on the valuable metals contained in the handset, regardless of if it is any "good" or not. Plus the damnd for spares. So for e.g 6300/6230i always fetch resnable money even though a cheap phone because its made of metal and is one of the most commonly used/sold phones in the UK so deman is high for parts/recons for insurance purposes.
And they arent over inflated prices, do you not understand how businesses work?!

Why buy just the handest? You can get handset for free, £20 a month with unlimited texts and free minutes?

I don't want the new one. I want the old desire.
Just a cheap one to get me through till the new iPhone is out really.
