He doesn't need to download anything, it's built into windows. If he can't use the standard one then I doubt he'd get past the installation process of another.

Thats if its a zip file, if its a 7zip file or a rar file then it won't work.
Still hasn't replied to me so we don't know yet.

That's true, he only said unzip, not that it was a .zip, but usually if it was a rar i'd say unrar, or un7zip

Well, if it doesn't open on a simple double click then I suspect it's not a ZIP file.
WinRAR is a gash piece of shareware. 7-zip is much much much nicer. Plus I've seen instances with 7-zip has opened files that windows has told me "there is nothing to extract"
