I'm having trouble with my x16xe,sometimes it runs and the temp gauge doesn't move above 90.However other times it will soar right up to 100.it seems to be losing coolant also.will the water just evaporate if I don't add anti freeze?
Any help appreciated

How do I free the thermostat if it is stuck scotty?

Replace it is the best thing really, Thats a good suggestion anyway. Should be under £15 so.
Its a good idea to run anti-freeze as it also acts as a coolant (and reducing the boiling point), and also stops the water gallerys, pump etc from rusting as bad.
Coolant can go down slightly over a period of time, But it doesn't simply evaporate

if you replace thermostat replace with a genuine vauxhall as they are much better than aftermarket stuff.also replace fan switch at bottom of radiator again with genuine.
