You cant just cut a key for it to work. You need to either put the chip from the old key into it or buy a new chip and get it coded.

If it hasn't got an immobiliser or chip it will cost very little, I got a spare for my Nova for a fiver.
I thought it was more than £30, I'm sure my mate got quoted nearer £100 from Vauxhall.
Another fella I know got quoted £180 for a spare for his A3!

My old man generally charges £30 for a key without an immobiliser, then anything from £60-£200 depending on the car and type of key. Newer cars use laser type keys and arent cheap, whereas a corsa type key with chip doesnt cost that much

Getting a key cut is a good idea either way, so you can actually open the car. If you have the security card with the pass key on it you can get the ecu programmed cheaply (I can do it for anybody in the south east), Otherwise its a trip to vauxhall.

or you could get the key cut without the immobiliser and glue the chip to the transponder incase you lose the key then you have a spare and can still drive it home or whatever
