are you saying you want to dot and dab fresh plasterboard over old plasterwork?

is the original wall plasterboard or a scatch coat and then skim? if its the latter knock it all back to the blockwork and get it redone properly

sounds like its a scratch coat, plaster tends to come off this when you remove tiles. would be alright as long as the scratch coat is alright to dot and dab over this, just knock off all the loose plaster with a hammer first. as long as your ok with a spirit level you will be fine, and make the adhesive the consistency of whipping cream so when you hold it upside down on your trowel it doesnt drop off
