Assuming the ps3 is setup correctly.

Open box, take out ps3 and all cables, plug in cables where they should go, turn on PlayStation. set up the playstations network settings to allow it to connect to the internet. Sign up for a psn I'd, now (SEN i believe) sign in with that. put game in, wait for it to load, go on multiplayer, click play online, find game.
