I've been struggling with this for the past couple of days..

We've got an XBOX and a PS3 in the house.. usually running at the same time.

I can't seem to get both of them to have an open NAT..

The xbox uses port 3074 for LIVE, however for some reason Black Ops on the PS3 also uses this port.

So obviously I cant set up port forwarding rules from one port to two static IP's. And when using UPNP, as soon as one machine "claims" that port and its nat becomes open the other machine becomes moderate.

Fucking hate networking.. Any ideas?

Don't they try another port if 3074 is already in use? Could also try placing one of them in DMZ and seeing if that helps.

Won't there be a setting in the game somewhere to change what port it uses?

You'd think so! I thought upnp would just open a different port if 3074 was taken by something else..

Putting one in dmz also doesn't seem to work either as apparently dmz only opens up all ports to a device unless there's already a forward set up for a particular port? And because the upnp sets up a forward to one ip whenever a machine is connected the dmz machine can't use that port. It seems no one has a definitive answer.. It either just works by chance or never works. Some folk have suggested having to get a second external ip from your ISP.. If that's the case it's a joke.

I remember setting up a static IP on my xbox and it seemed to work? Not sure if it was just luck or not .
