Just after some help with idle control valves please Im just wanting to know if this is the correct way for an idle control valve to operate.

This is the second replacement I've had now and both are doing exactly the same thing. When the ingition is turned on and off the piston just keeps moving out further and further until the piston falls out

I've done a video to show what its doing - excuse the blur im still getting used to this new camera

When I've done this in the past with my old GM one it just used to move a couple of mm at most when the ingition was turned on. Then when you turned the ignition off it would move back to its original place

Anyone got any ideas if this is right or not?

Yeah thats what my original one did until it seized. Just seems so strange to get two brand new ones that do exactly the thing. This new one ive just bought is a different make to the one ive just sent back but I think its exactly the same just rebranded.

I can't see a brand new GM one being cheap so I think I'll try and get my hands on a second had original one

Either that or youve got a dodgy connection somewhere, and when the signal to return is sent to the valve its not getting there

+1

Maybe see if you can get one down the scrappy and see what that does. If it does the same again then check the wiring out.
