Hi all. I was wondering if there was any way of telling which car my XE has came out of as im wanting to get a manual to help me do the strip and rebuild. Its a coilpack engine with the cambelt cover that has straighter sides if that makes sense (dont know if that means early or late).

Also what should i be checking/changing as a matter of course (i.e. Piston rings) ?

What do i need to do to remove the engine from a corsa b? I know the exhaust manifold will have to come off but other than that is it just a case of disconnecting the wiring harness (wherever that may be) and the drive shafts and lift the hole lot out as a lump? Is it easier to remove the inlet mani or gearbox before removal?

engine and box out together its easy enough

remove both fuel pipes exhaust manifold gear linkage heater matrix water pipes speedo drive in box acelerator cable unplug loom and fold over wing much easier shafts out undo mounts out it comes

i would replace
bottom end: rings, bearings put arps in rehone bottomend if needed, 8v baffle plate
head: relap valves, new stem seals, skim if needed,gm headgasket, inlet and exhaust gasket
then service bits oil, oil filter, plugs, ht leads, dizzy rotory arm (if dizzy engine)

easy enough
