Would I be able to use one of the above with a PATA DVD writer? My new motherboard doesnt have a IDE socket, an oversight on my part  and with everything going digital and cloud I see no point in buying a new SATA disk drive for the very occasional use I will get out of it...
edit - I bought a cheap IDE -> SATA converter cable off ebay to try but that doesnt seem to work either, maybe its defective
