Ok so I have a very basic cheap flat screen tv in my work canteen and want to play a power point presentation through it. I've made the power point slide show ect how do I play it back through? Is it a case of just connecting it to the tv (its on a usb stick) and it'll play it through and I can stick in on loop? Or do I need to program it ect?

I assume you have something to play it on, i.e a PC/slim PC?
Its highly unlikely your PC will natively play a powerpoint on its own.

No I wanted to plug it into the TV and play it back through the TV, what would be the best way? Realise now you can't use power point as it won't open it, but is there a way of doing it? Maybe through a movie maker?

What about in a picture type slide show using the tv to display it?

If you don't need animations and transitions you should be able to export to an image format like .JPG, which will be readable by most TV's.

No quite happy for it to play through but they need time to read things on each picture / slide. Is there a program to use to make slide shows and which the tv will capable of playing. Or is there a way to put a DVD on loop play? Basically want it looping 24/7 when I play DVD's on it it will obviously stop when it reaches the end but they wont press play on there own as they might not want to watch it

I think plugging a laptop in is your best option. TV should have VGA input at least.

Can't it's in an open staff room it'll be gone by the end of the day or be damaged.

If it has a USB socket I'd load a couple of JPGs onto the stick, plug it in and give it a go.
If that works then convert each slide in the powerpoint to a JPG - I think that PP does that anyway - and plug it in

Is there a way to space the slides through the TV so it does it slowly as such? The next question is eventually I want to add videos to it? Would this be best to use it on a DVD?

If this is for a presentation then use your laptop (you might need to navigate around the slides during the presentation). Otherwise you can export to a 'movie file' or static images and then play that via a laptop, external source or on the TV itself (if it supports playing media of a USB drive or network share).
If it's for permanent signage then there are better solutions tbh, ie - Xibo, Concerto, OpenSplash (All Open Source signage software).
