well it just failed it's mot on emissions, is the lack of aux air pump going to really cause a problem? i thought it was a common thing to remove them?

No cause the aux pump is only on for the first 30 second or so when starting cold and the emisions test should be done when the car is at operating temp so I thought

"yer fast idle is 0.638 and the second time they tested the fast the hc was 247 and is supposed to 200"

The secondary air pump only recirculates exhaust gases into the catalytic convertor to speed up its warming up process so it might make a difference until the engine is at operating temp.Have you checked the lambda sensor?On the right hand side of the downpipe at the front of your engine.Take it out and give it a damn good clean and see what happens!!

Air pump only pumps warm air not exhaust gases thats the EGR.
I'd just change the lambda and coolant temp sensor cant do any harm

I'm guessing it has a cat fitted, points at the cart being duffed, or no cat.
As said, CTS and lambda, or say it's from a nova pre emission and do an invoice for it, and it will pass.
