lowering wont make the rubbing stop because it will be lower to the arches!!! Trust me ive done -40mm and 60mm on 16's and you will get some rubbing!!!!!
The -40mm will be the best for everyday use and handling and also if you wanna carry passengers!!! But like me you will look at your car after and wished you had go for -60mm!!!!! But arch work is needed!!!!

For either -40mm or -60mm try GMAX, ive had three of their kits now and are pretty good!!!! Not as good as Konis or what ever but a steal at just over £200 for a full kit!!!!!

if right offset shouldn't rub on 16's, otherwise try 195/40, that would give u more space.

all depends on how much cash u wanna spend m8. if ur looking for good handling and looks on a budget get either APEX or GMAX suspension kit, if money no object get coilovers. dont bother with Koni T/A unless u are intending to use the adjuster on them

remove the top 2 rear arch bolts and will stop all rubbing, unless u own a 5 dr, then its more difficult

its the inner arch which causes the problems on 5 door. you have to somewhat limit the rear suspention travel either by adjustable rear shocks or long bumpstops.
to get 17's on i also had to cut the metal arch up 1 1/2 inchs to clear the tyre as with people in it fould the side wall and melted it. also knocked ther inner arch a bit.

i havent put the plastic arch on yet, u will probably be alrighht without cutting the metal on 16's, just stick the archs on.

yes bump stops make it very bouncy, if u have a back problem then dont even think about it, it jars my mums back so she does come in it anymore, lol
