Im looking at a corsa redtop for sale but it has a snapped piston i was just wandering if anybody knows how much this would cost to fix and is it alot of work?

snapped piston lol wtf

Snapped con rod is more like it,
Work involved would be a total re build if it hasn't dug a large chunk out of the bores, and if it has your going to need a new block possable crank could be damaged to.. Unless your getting it for silly cheep then walk away

thanks, he said it still runs just makes a tapping noise, could it not just be a piston ring?

If decide to get it and its not just lifters tapping then i can take a look at it.

i think that guy needs his head examined, if the cars tapping quickly then its lifters so knock him down to a low price saying you'll take it with a duffed engine, and just replace the lifters jobs a gooden and you've saved yourself a bit of moneys

he's now said he has been told its the piston shell :s ive got him down to £900 and it was up for £1500 even if i just get my mechanic drop another redtop in i reckon its still worth it what do you think?

its mine and its easy worth 1k as it is the parts alone you can make 1300 off its still a bargain

i was only going on wat i was told the exact words from a so called mechanic was sounds like its spun a shell to me and a piston has snapped or something.. but now im being told it could just be the crank but either way i havent even a pound to put init if i did the car wouldnt be up for sale
