Cheers sean, massive help maybe abit too expensive for this project though car was £50, managed to get it 100% running and tarted it, so far project cost £101 pound inc petrol to get car and get back, buying that would be another 20% of what we have spent. If I was keeping the car what you suggested would be great, however i bought purely for a quick fix and turn around to earn some cash as im skint

just put some thicker oil in it, you can replace the oil filter at the same time (about £6), then you can tell the next owner, you've replaced these parts at least AND it will stop the tappets tapping so loudly.

no thicker oil is just to help lubricate, chances are your valve steam seals have had better days

remember folks

10w is the weight when cold

I.E 15w is thicker and 5w is thinner

and 40 is the weight when hot so 50 is slightly thicker and 30 is verrrry thin
15 40 is a good idea as tappets are usualy fine when warm is jsut the oil runs out them over a amount of time i'd recomend 15w40 or 15w50 semi synth

i'm running 50 quid silkolene 5w40 fully synth and i thought tappets would fill quicker with the oil but its adverse affects and chaps its brains out lol so i'm just gona bang a good 10w40 semi-synth back in

Opie oils is the cheapest for oil
