How do you do this unless you buy them from iTunes? Is it possible - presumably you have to naff around and stick everything in Quicktime

Has to the right file format, is a royal ball ache.

get a converter, or purchase your films already in the correct format.

Acquire a program called 1click dvd2ipod and google dvd43, can rip a dvd straight to mp4 and use itunes to put it on the iphone.

Take a look at Handbrake.

Its already got the iPod/iPhone presets in it. Just select an file, click iPhone and away it goes.
