been using vegas platinum trial

what can I get fairly cheap that does spliting, manual audio sync and a few other snazzy things?

Ive seen a copy of the vegas I was using on ebay for like 20quid

Final Cut Pro is the best, use it daily at work, but is very expensive. If you have a Mac iMovie is excellent, on a PC try Movie Maker.

Avid is more commonly used in the industry, although FCP is a very good product.

Jas - If you're not one for purchasing products from dodgy shops online, then i would say Vegas would be your best bet if you can get it for £20. Otherwise i'd just get hold of the Adobe CS5 suite and use Premiere.

In the industry? I work in the industry, if you are good, you can use whatever program you want!

I thought the question was about video editing software, rather than the industry.

I'd agree that Avid is more commonly used.

Final Cut is great is you own a mac

Great, you can use iMovie if you want. But Avid is still the most common editing package plus it certainly makes us sound editors lives easier when using protools.

Eitherway you mentioned FCP when Jas was looking at £20 copies of Vagas
