'The United States Space Surveillance Network is currently tracking 8,000 man-made orbiting objects. About seven percent are operational satellites (i.e. ~560 satellites), the rest are space debris. '

Shame only a handful are used for GPS. GPS will get better when China and Europe hurry up and launch their constellations.

It's not really when you think about it. The video is misleading because of the scale, imagine 13000 people spread around the surface of the earth and how far apart they'd be, it'll be even further up there. I bet there are at least 10 times that number of planes on the sky at any one time and they manage not to hit each other (mostly) in a vastly smaller space.
