Can't seem to get a good enough seal with the ring gasket where the manifold meets the cat.
Bought new ring gasket set and still blowing, any ideas? Do you think it's to do with my fitting the sportex exhaust system? I wouldn't of thought so as both the manifold and cat are still standard?
Andy.

Did you buy new springs aswell? Ive found in the past that the old springs that keep the tension on have gone weak over time and cause it not to seal as well

your not doing the spring kit up solid are you? there needs to be some movement...
and are you using any form of sealent?
ideally you want to be putting a little RTV silicone all the way around

Coat the ring in exhaust assembly paste before fitting

back the bolts up slightly!!
they shouldnt be as tight as they possibly go, you may need a new gasket now as you could of fucked the old ones, presuming its a 1.4/1.6 16v then go to local factors and asked for a gmg12 gasket
and see if you can get hold of some RTV silicone while your there, DO NOT use normal exhaust paste it can fuck the cat!

It's a bit confussing here is the manifold gasket the flat one with two holes or the pipe to cat ring one (mesh type) where springs are used?

If i back the bolts up slighty, it's going to blow even more? How i have it now doesn't seem tight enough for it to seal.
I really don't get how these crush gaskets work at all, pretty stupid.

if you do it up tight its no longer a spring kit, it's just a solid cylinder!
trust me, get a new gmg12, new set of springs and some silicone and DON'T do the springs up tight, just less than a mm gap between each coil will be sufficiant

we use engineering silicone that we get from clampco, www.clampcouk.co.uk give them a ring and ask for the black rtv silicone for infront of the cat
