I've got a PC here that had an issue with NTLDR - basically I was on site yesterday using said PC and then rebooted it, this is when the missing NTLDR error came up. Rebooting a couple more times produced said error.

I brought the PC back here and turned it on, and it booted straight into Windows?

I've also been told the PC has been losing the time recently so I assumed the CMOS battery needs replacing which I will change in a bit anyway, but what could be causing this strangeness? Is there a ghost in this PC?

Did a quick Google and it seems it could be anything from a virus to a dodgy SATA cable...

I'm just running CHKDSK on it ATM, when that's done I'll do a virus scan and check the cable.

Might call Ghostbusters as well to be on the safe side.

Chkdsk didn't report any problems, cables seem OK.

No viruses found either.

Ironically, this was a 'server' PC that was just replaced by a little NAS box, this PC stopped working as soon as the NAS box went live!
