Dont quote me on this but I think that stolen/recovered means that the car has obviously been stolen and the insurance company has paid out for a new one but then the car was found.

Could be wrong though, it could also mean that the car was stolen and then recovered and the owner no longer wants to drive it so is selling it.

But I think its what I said first.

Not really much help seen as I couldnt be certain. Sorry

can also be taken by bayliffs to pay off debts so they sell them cheap. What U be best doin is getting it checked out by a mechanic or paying the AA to run checks on the plate.

AA can check car history and stuff i think, for that price be worth it.

some stolen recovered cars are considered to be write off's, Cat D

a car is considered to be stolen/recovered if it is missing for anything greater than 8 weeks

i'd check it out, was watching Deals on Wheels last night and they where going on about bargains to be had in this area, u can save a couple of grand on a car that may have hardly anything wrong with it

its what it say its been stolen doesn't matter what lengh of time its still been stolen then it was recovered I would get it hpi'd by someone like rac then take it for a test drive just to see if there is any bad noises or anything get your brother to check over it for the usual stuff oil in the coolant and vice versa in the oil filler. check for blue smoke on start up and if every thing is alright buy it BUT also look for similar priced stuff which hasn't been stolen/recovered. Also it may not be recorded as stolen recovered so you should be fine.

Darren

P.s The Gsi that I bought was stolen recovered but was not recorded.
