ive got a new car, so i dont drive my corsa much, but i decided to drive it, but the petrol was on empty, i mean nuthhin left,

so i pulled into the the petrol station down the road and i mistake put 6 litres of diesel into my 1.2 94' petrol corsa,

i DID NOT START IT, as i recalled this little tip from those rac ads,

any ways... i moved into to the side of the road... what should i do, i called RAC they said to take it to a garage..

lucky for me this two garages across the road from the petrol station so i guess i'll take it there

has this happened to any1 before?

the main thing is i didnt start the engine and there was almost nuthing in the tank to start with

U need one of those things some vans have "Diesel here"

But petrol

How did you manage to get the diesel nozzle in? They're meant to be bigger than an unleaded one

i think its the other way aroud, the petrol wont fit a diesel

drain the tank, fill with petrol, whack in some red-x, let it run & take it for a drive till it stops smoking...

if it was only six liters as you say i wouldnt bother just fill it right up with petrol and drive off, diesels doesnt harm petrol cars but petrol does quite bad damage to diesels

My dad filled his company car from empty to full with petrol instead of diesel

In addition to what PaulW said, I'd also change the fuel filter. Just to be save.

The garage might sting you for a bit though, when people did this and brought it in to the dealership where I used to work it stung them for a couple of hundred quid!

unleaded is used in vans/wagons during the winter to stop the deasil freezing, so in a way its a good thing but this situation is the other way around, just drain the tank your self and fill with unleaded, will be safe mate

it was a long time ago now, well the series before theywere in the cafe, but on 5th Gear Jon Bentley actually tested this, swapped the fuels.
not sure on the quantities of the fuel he put in but both ran fine in the end, some odd performance initially but was otherwise uneffected

instead of going to a garage and getting your eyeballs ripped out to repair it cant you just disconnect the fuel line from the filter and syphon it out after all its only 6 litres. Or do what shane said, fill it to the brim with PETROL and neutralise the diesel. shud be fine maybe a bit smokey for a short while. then use redex for the next few fillups.

Im confused, i always thought that you cant fill a petrol car up with diesel as the nozzle is too big

No, the diesel nozzle is bigger so more diesel can flow out of it so it's quicker to fill a 200litre tank on a truck.

HOWEVER at BP garages has anyone noticed how similar the Ultimate diesel pump is compared to the ultimate petrol, went to pick up the diesel pump several times now

Yes, they are both blue. Not very ergonomic. Some guy did it to his Fiat off of FIatforum and complained - BP paid for the fiel system to be cleaned out.

well i went to the garages that where across from the petrol station, the 1st garage said £150 to fix, the 2nd pushed the car into the lot, open the fuel line near the engine, opened the fuse box crossed sum conetors and then the diesel pured out...toped it with 5 ltrs of petrol, let that drain out the rest of the disel, which was straight away, started the engine bit of smoke and she was roaring again, then gave it another 10ltrs, cars seems fine now but i only drove it a little,
its my 2nd car, i use it for the small a to b trips to the shops
