What a massively underwhelming load of shit. I'm due an upgrade so will probably get one but I'm amazed at how little Apple have progressed the last couple of iPhones. Even more amazed how some of the fanboys in here are clutching at straws and making out stuff like a slightly thinner form factor is groundbreaking.

Without sounding too fanboy-like, do you think it's at the stage where the software is getting to be more important than the hardware? Take Whittie's thread about the Playbook he bought - good piece of hardware, well designed and well built but with no apps it's not that useful?

I am bored of hearing about percentages when it comes to Apple, making something 'x'% lighter and 'y'% faster every incarnation will only cut it for so long.

im currently out of contract, unsure whether to sell iphone 4S, get the 5 on contract (and pocket the rest) or wait till next year.

That's the thing though, until sales drop, they don't need to progress really. While they still hold the market and they're phones are still so in demand they can keep rolling out essentially the same piece of equipment with minor upgrades and people will lap it up.

Unfortunately they work well and as there's nothing else out there with the OS that people are used to, they'll keep buying them

Not keen on having to put an adapter into my my dock just to use it , hope its something discreet? Used to be handy using the same cable for updating my iphone / ipod. 1 less cable to lose.
Wonder why they decided to change the connector after all this year? Does anyone know if o2 are doing pre-orders? Mrs went in to ask them last week and they claimed they didnt as they might not get the phone on the day its released? Internet seems to say they will be taking preorders. Will try and phone tomorrow and pick their brains about it as Im due an upgrade now
