Just got home from doin the shopping and noticed a loud tapping noise. Sounds like very loud tappets but it has come on so quick I doubt it. Gave the car a right thrashing so not sure if that has something to do with it. Any ideas?

It sounds like the top of the engine, under the rocker cover. So could be the cam maybe?

i had this with mine so i ran it with engine flush in for 20 min then gave it an oil change and it was fine. was crappin though thinkin i had to change the tappets 
when u last change oil?

i just been out for a quick run an the noise has pretty much dissappeared  i changed the oild about 5,000 miles ago but i might just flush it out and do it again to be safe. Do you have to use flushing oil for this? an how long do u leave the flushing oil in for before swapping it for normal stuff?

go to bullseye at tanyard and ask for some engine flush then get some oil and filter while u are there if u dont have already. empty the can into where u put the oil and run at no more than 2k revs for 20 mins
then drop the oil change the filter and top up with correct amount
if its cleared a bit then probably is crap in ure tappets/lifters so may be worth doing. only cost me £15 for bits and i got the v6 so 5 litre of oil
give me a shout if u need a hand

cheers kerry, im at stafford at the mo tho but ill give it a go later this week. The noise has gone but gonna do it anyway.

nice one i deffo would if its gone. atleast theres no ongoin prob but deffo a sign of maybe a bit of crap needs flushing out

i had that problem at the bggining and i ignored it thinking it was nothing and gave the car an oil change and filter, ran it for 2 weeks now it's been sitting in my garage for 2 weeks cos everytime it starts it rattles like hell cos the crank and big end shells are knackered!
