After flattening the battery trying to start it, I took the battery out to charge and refitted it two days later. Started up straight away then!!
Ran fine for a week, but then would'nt start one morning. Would just about kick into life but not keep running, regardless of throttle input.
diagnostic check shows 'fuel pump' fault. Have changed fuel filter this morning, still won't start.
Took plastic cover off tank fuel pump, makes no noise when ignition is turned on, should it prime?
Should next step be to replace tank fuel pump, if so, how much ££ and where is best place to buy?
Might change water temp sensor as matter of course, see if it helps.
Any other idea's??
It has dizzyless ignition. Spark plugs/leads look ok, is it worth replacing these???

when ignition is on, a distinct whirr should be heard from the pump. If not, either the pump is knackered or a relay/fuse has blown somewhere along the line.

first thing to do would be to replace the relay/fuse with a new one.

aye replace the fuse/relay
if no joy get a pump from the scrappy
i think they test em first

Got on the phone today to vauxhall, £160+VAT for a fuel pump!! Seems ok when the car is running though.
Yep i'll try changin the relay first, and I think I will change the water temp sensor (£19) guy on parts desk agreed that it ws a good idea as they can cause fuel starvation/running problems when they go wrong.
Where is the fuel pump relay? is it with the other relays above the fuse box?
How do I identify it?

Bought a new water temp sender & a fuel pump relay.
Car had been standing for a week, disconnected the battery and charged it.
Fitted new relay, reconnected battery, and it started first click!!
Not holding my breath tho as it has started before afer having the battery reconnected.
How do I clear the fault code memory to see if the fuel pump fault has gone away?
It now has a new fault code that starts with '1', does that mean I'm gonna have to take it to a garage/vauxhall to get the fault code read???

Same again, after two days it won't start. Eng mangmt light is on when ignition is on.
I have figured one thing tho, if the battery is disconnected long enough to reset the ECU it starts first click every time!
So could it be a faulty ECU, or a faulty sensor/part that is sending a major fault to the ECU??
Its also now showing another fault code starting with 1, which I believe is a vauxhall specific code? Does this mean I have to take it to a Vauxhall dealer, or would a good specialist be able to diagnose it?
Any good specialists in manchester/north west area?

I'm currently breaking a 1.4ls HiTorq (C14NZ), so if you need a few parts & I've still got them, give me a shout!
It was a good engine, but the block is now fuked so is why its being all stripped out
Alternator has already gone though, and this engine has a dizzy

I'm in central manchester mate.
Shame its not quite the same engine, as I could of tried swapping the ECU.
Will give you a shout if iI need anything else.

if you can just see what the model & numbers n stuff os oin your ECU & I'll jave a look at mine, think they may work but unsure

The car has been starting ok since christmas, have not needed to reset the ECU since. Took it to an auto-electrician, but the codes had been wiped by disconnecting the battery so there wasn't much they could do!
There's still no codes, and the problem has now changed a bit. Starts fine, but now and again it loses power, very jerkily (ignition rather than fuel?), for a few minutes.
It also did it really bad on the motorway in really heavy rain, thought it was going to give up, but changed down into fourth and it wasn't as bad at the higher engine speed, then it recovered.
Any idea's?
Are these two different problems or are they related? Can't see it being HT leads or coil pack as its so intermittent. It has dizzyless ignition.
Maybe a bad earth somewhere? Should I change the ECU relay if there is one?
