yeah as cosmo said i'd say its just good luck. Ni-Cads need 'looking after' with conditioning charges etc whether they are two minutes old or 2 years old they will eventually get a memory and hardly hold a charge if you dont only charge em when they are flat or virtually flat and fully charge them too and not just a quick boost. its the same with mobile phone batteries eventualy they pack in too if not looked after correctly.
You can get away with occaisionally not following the rules and chargeing when not empty and just for 1/2 an hour to see you through sort of thing but do it too oftena dn you'll ruin the battery

to an extent all batteries do mate but i know what your saying they better than Ni-Cads

I have Ni-Cad batteries in my BB guns, big 9.6v 3000 mhamp ones, when you buy them they have a charge in them, I have a discharger that I plug into the battery to make it totally flat, then have to leave it to charge for 22 hours before being able to use it.
Same principle for Ipod batteries.
You lot are gay.

Whilst they are idiots and that is funny, it is actually the best advice that they could've possibly given you.
We (Apple Service Provider) tell customers exactly the same thing. It costs more to get an iPod repaired than it does to buy a new one. They are worthless when they're out of warranty.

Supprised no-one has tried the Sale of Goods Act. IMO an Ipod is such a product that should last 2-3 years at least. Its one of the most expensive on the market etc.

Try all the different USB ports on ya PC, because iPod's have a habit of flooding the port with data and rendering it useless. So swap ports and try again.
