First thing in the morning when the car is started, the oil light stays on for a few seconds and the engine taps like mad. Ok after a few seconds and only does it first thing. I did an oil change a couple of weeks ago but ut hasn't helped.

Is it a high mileage engine? the oil light can stay on fd
or a few seconds on a high millage engine especially if its only doing it after an overnight stop, plus corsa's have hydraulic lifters dont forget so u do get a tappety noise when starting from cold again especially on a high mileage car

This appear to be a lacks of oil and pressures, it would be correct to purchase some engine flush solution and run this, you must also check do you use the correct grage of oil

I was thinking more along the lines of blocked oil pickup pipes? Anyone ever had any probs with this? The engines done 86k.

yes put i said it is a lack of pressures, and then you say about blocked pipes, get an engine flush packet, this will free up any pipes that may be becoming blocking

I did an oil change and put too much oil in.
Drained some out and it seems ok now.
