Is there anyway to totally wipe a PC without getting rid of Windows? As the PC at my gf's house needs to start from scratch as so full of shite, but they havent got any of the windows CD's anymore.

I didnt think so but thought there may be a programme out there that someone knew of.
No probs, will have to get hold of some windows CD's from somewhere then

system restore nice idea but if he means his HDD is full of popups/malware etc they tend to replicate themselves even if you restore. if you mean crap as 'lots of old files' yuo could try diskcleanup, de frag or a restore

they wont, it restores from several files in hives stored in the restore folder.

system
security
default
SAM
If the spyware wasnt there at that restore point it wont be there if you restore

i can give you instructions how to restore all manuall via the recovery console but its a bit techy

yea have 2 laptops at work that staff have, both have same virus/adware and we tried to restore to the very beginning, but they replicated themsleves
