well those of you who doubted you were wrong
after chasing it up i managed 2 get £200 gift vouchers.
now I am looking for new tvs
my question is is there much difference between 720p 1080i and 1080p on a 26" t.v
what are your opinions on this

ok so is 720p good then for 26" it will be used mainly for ps3 but may also be used as a monitor and for t.v thanks

Yes, 720P will be fine!
720p is better that 1080i but not as good as 1080p (but you wont find 1080p)

lol no one was wrong, every one was technically correct they didnt need to give you anything as the tv you bought was HD ready.
If you recall however, a lot of people my self included said ring up as there customer service is pretty good and might sort something out.
