Help,

we have two switches a Dell Powerconnect 6224 and a Netgear FS752TPS,

These are the main switches that connect two sites together via a BT line 100meg link so its on our LAN.

Having issues with the line. BT say its fine and running above average.

So we think its the switches.

They are on auto and pick up 100meg half duplex. do i need to change anything to do with flow control on the dell currently its on 1518,

Both switches have MDI/MDIX enabled.

The dell is a Gigabit switch and that part is connected via gigabit

Netgear is plugged into 100meg port.

Anyideas.....

Hi Dan,

My name is Ash

What are the symptoms?

Seems weird how you have a Gigabyte switch one side and a Netgear on 100mpbs... (you won't be experiencing full gigabyte networking with this setup afaik)

Try setting them up to full duplex and see what that does?

(Please tell me you are not using splitters )

it wont be a full gigabit network anyway as the BT line is 100meg.

we host everything at the lutterworth HQ and the warehouse is a mile away.

All files and applications that have to go over the link is very slow.

I have installed the app Qcheck and done some tests and if i push through 1000kb of data i am only getting 48ish Mbps

no splitters are being used.

Have you tried configuring the switches to full-duplex?

When you say you are having issues, what are they?

One reason that is is not working when you manually set the duplex and speed is it needs to be set on both the BT kit and your kit.

Either way it shouldn't be running at half duplex.
