hi all, when my engine is started i can hear a slight tappety noise comming from the engine bay, just wondering if anybody could help with this ?

what kind of tap is it? Like a small hammer tapping on something, or sounds like you hitting the bottom of a frying pan.. (weared terminology but bottom end does sound like that don't it)
I'd just get the engine really hot and change the oil a few times cheap oil first time get it really hot again and then drain and a good oil after.. Could just have a sticky tappet..

Mine does the same, is fine when warmed up. Wouldnt worry tbh

BTW it me and chris in that passat that went by you past the lake last week 
Tried txting you but aint got your number!
As the tapping - when did you last change the oil and filter?
Going cheap at smith atm. £14.10 inc vat

Yer Chris were doing a job in wales and the customer gave him a passat to travel down and a fuel tank of derv! so we abused it!
