Hi just put my car on ramp at work as exhaust was noisy. Found that it has corroded and just generally had it on the flanges on both the down pipe and centre section. gonna replace the whole lot but wondered if i would be able to salvage my cat from my old exhaust if a cat back system sleeves into or over the centre section. I assume when you fit a cat back system you cut the centre section after the cat? its a 1.4 sport any help would be appreciated.

The cat should be bolted to the centre section

If the the cat looks badly corroded like the rest of the exhaust i'd replace it,
You can buy a replacement cat for around £50.
Edit: to back up what Ellis said. The centre section will be sleeved onto the cat and have a U clamp on it.
