i would probably say Sony as this is what im getting, ive done alot of looking about on tv forums and the most popular are sony and panosonic, im not a great fan of plasmas and they use a hell of alot of energy over the year, more then twice the amount of a LCD, so im going for a sony.
Samsung was an alternative, but some of them dont swivel on the stand and they dont turn off, you can only put them into standby mode.

Apparently when it comes to Sony 37" lcds the screen isnt actually manufactured by Sony.
Panasonic Viera picture is stunning

I am gonna get a 40"sony which are very good, i wouldnt really know about the 37"ones.

I'm led to believe that a lot brands use Samsung screens in thier TV's, Sony being one of them.

i have the panasonic tx37lzd81, and it is stunning.
havent seen annother 37" screen which matches it TBh
if you go for the LZD80, it should be cheaper as it doesnt have freesat HD built in

You obviously havnt looked-into TVs as much as you think mate!
This is not true at all, plasma TV's are just as energy efficient as LCDs, sometimes more depending on what your watching.
LCD requires a constant backlight to illuminate the screen whereas plasma cells require a single ignition to illuminate the pixel, so if your watching a darker film then the plasma will use much less power.
Panasonic TX37LZD800 would be my choice, full HD and 100hz MPP2
Very nice set with a superb picture, id steer clear of Samsungs tbh..

The 81 series are ok, no 100hz in your set so the LZD800 is a much better picture, also the built-in freesat HD isnt as good a picture as an external box.
Also the 800 had 4x HDMI as opposed to 3 on the 81

Im no expert in TVs, but alot of people on forums like AVforum seem to be and a everyone says that a plasma uses a huge amount more then a LCD.
The specs they show you clearly shows this aswell

when i got mine the neither the 80 or 81 had 100hz..the 85 did though
