jackin point on the side.....front wheels just wont come off the ground, well they do but about half an inch, which isnt normal.

tis cos of the rear beam. the front suspensio0n is independant so it will stretch to its full length before lifting with the car. The rear wheel is held up as the wheel on the other side still has weight on so it can't come down from the arch, and so the rear beam will keep the rear wheel in the arch for longer, hence why the rear wheel will lift off the ground before the front & also usually end up being higher in the air than the front when fully jacked up.

i used the front jakin point, wen the front wheel did lift up the jak was fully extended,n afta a while the front wheel seemd to lower a little.

Invest in axle stands 
You're not jacking it up on the sill part are you?
There is a square bit of chassis with a round hole in behind the front wheels which I always use.
I can only think you havent locked the hydraulic valve tight enough cos I have done that sometimes too.

u av misunderstood.....i have never had this problem b4. its not the jak. last time i jacked up my car about 3 months ago it was fine, but now it ony lifts about 2cm off the floor where as rear weel is about 4 ft up

Stripped out? When mine was, it did this - I just lumped loads of shit in the boot before I jacked it up, seemed to solve my problem!
