If you're with Barclays you get free 3 licence subscription to Kaspersky. Works a treat.

McAfee or Norton - although not free - are better than the free shite you can get.

Being protected on the Internet isn't only just about having a virus scanner you know.

Ditch AVG, put Avast on and use Windows Firewall if your router has a hardware firewall, which it should do. Job's a goodun.

Also, the computer says 38.2 left of 68gb or something but the lad I bought it off cleared his files, there is filies like divx video player, should I delete these individually or is there a way to reset the computer?thanks

If it's a secondhand computer, I'd advise formatting the drive and reinstalling Windows on it.

If you have the 16 digit serial key you can buy a version of Vista from PC World for about £10's but with no licence, then just use the serial key you have.

I find them terrible because they rape the computers resources.

When idle, McAfee on my laptop only uses about 1.5Mb of RAM.

You'll have to bear in mind any system with an AV suite will run slower than one without as it will scan files you open on the fly, as it were.
