when changing from a x14xe to x16xe what needs changed.
im just thinking of doing this at the min but what will need changed?
ive read about people saying ya can use 1.4 ecu. why not just put in 1.6?
and is the transponder and key chip a problem?
do people keep the 1.4 ecu because of the transponder and chip or does it have nothing to do with it?

you need to change the ECU Chip and transponder IIRC, or you can get a C16xe and ECU but i dont think they had a immobiliser...i might be corrected on that one though......

it is worth it if you can do it yourself, but perhaps not if you were paying someone an extortinate amount

you can use the x14xe ECU, loom, gear box, driveshafts etc. The ECU will need to be mapped accordingly though. Broster off here has a x14xe ECu on and X16xe

Wouldnt it be cheaper just to get a x16xe ecu an chip rather than remap the x14xe unless you remap so it is better than the x16xe

if your engine came with the x16xe ECU then use that. But you can use the X14XE if your 1.6 ECU breaks, dont work etc.
When i did mine i used old gearbox, new ECU, old loom, old driveshafts etc ohh and the transponder chip obviously.
If you havnt got the x16xe ECU you could get a chip fitted to the x14xe ECU and mapped and it will work fine for the 1.6

a c20xe is tempting but at 1.6 will be a lot cheaper.
does anyone have a full list of everything needed for a c20xe?
and some idea of the cost, i should be able to get it fitted pretty cheap.

most ppl upgrade from x14xe's to x16xe's and dont change the v5 or insurance because they get power gains without it looking obvious when the plod lift up the bonnet. whereas a c20xe can easily be identified as "not the standard lump" and then they get buggered for it!
