i know its been said before but yer better off going for 2.0 if you have a 1.4

a 1.6 is fine if yer coming form a 1.2 8v

but a 1.4 and a 1.6 are not THAT much different

1.4 and 1.6 are very different.

Maybe doesnt seem it on the way up but certainly does on the way down.

i drive a tuned 1.6 corsa.... and reguallrly drive my GF's 1.4 tigra

granted there is a difference alright but just not enough to go to the hassle of changing engines....

certainly not like when i change from 1.2 8v to tuned 1.6 16v...

Get a high mileage one for less, then have it rebuilt. Low mileage ones are only as good as the service history, which needs to be done to Vauxhall standards for cam rollers, etc.

I had a 1.4 16v and following engine failure swapped it for a c16xe and thought what a waste of time. Having run both as daily runners the difference seemed minimal.

Now my girlfriend has bought a 1.4 16v sport (same car as mine originally) and it seems so slow compared to my 1.6. The 14 needs working a lot more.
