Slow at starting and shutting down. HD not going, just hangs. Works perfectly apart from that. It's got tons of work on and i have tons to do so can't be bothered formating

As melville said.
Defrag is really on benifical if your hard disk is full up.

could be spyware/adaware eating up resources. Have you checked for those?

Melville has got it right, get a small HD for the OS, and use the other, to keep all your files on etc, I will be doing it soon, much better.

Yup, Im right. This is the King Kong way of speeding up a PC. Once it gets slow again then you can just wipe the HD with the os on it.

Not that much on the drive really. See sceen shots. Have two 250GB SATA 150 drives in. Is it best to just have the operating system on one drive and then all the applications on another?

IF you only have 7 gig on there then it certainly shouldnt be slow
Could well be adware.

could be a memory problem.

try with just one stick in there, then the other.
Could be a whole load of issues to be honest. I would re-install the OS first
