It doesn't really matter if it goes wrong though because tesco will just take it back no quibbles.
It will be rubbish though.
The resolution is ok for hd though so I don't know what it's missing to not be hd ready.

The resolution is not better than a decent lcd, some are higher.
Go into tesco and have a look.
There are no hdmi cables for the 360 yet afaik.

ffs. Why don't people spend their hard earned cash on decent quality products?
an HDTV should be able to
1) display an image of at least 720p (1280x720 progressive scan)
2) receive an input of 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced)
3) feature an HDMI connector, or HCMP-compatible DVI connector

dave, don't know where you got that from but #2 is bollocks, if its can recieve a HD input of 720i/p then its HD.
Also 720 and 1080 resolutions are 1024x720 pixels and latter, 1920x1080 pixels.
www.hidef.co.uk is a good source of info
As for decent makes, well sony aren't exactly the muts nuts - look at there plasmas, crock of shite, yet people still believe its a decent make for them If you want a decent plasma, look at panasonic or pioneer.
And many people dont have the 2-4k to spend on a decent plasma. Saying that, i would look at some of the older ranges of panasonics - wont be top spec but richersounds stock a few around t he 1k area and are pretty decent for the cash

definitely about panasonic or pioneer. sony are good, but you have to pay for it. only the W & X ranges are worth getting for hig quality

No, pioneer have stuck with plasma, i suppose if there good at it then why bother going to LCD.
And yea, sony stopped making plasmas a year or so, but then again they it was probably understandable

No 720 is 1280x720 not 1024x720 (although quite a lot of plamsas have this res and claim HD ready as the 'standard' for HD ready is to show 720 lines, the width is not specified (making a complete joke of the whole thing)

i stand corrected then
Wikipedia seems like a good source of info
i knew they needed min 720 lines, but thought the width was standardised to 1024? - saying that though, aren't sky/ntl/bbc and co still deciding what to broadcast in?
Its a crock of shite that we're only just getting HD considering japan have had it for the last 15 years or so and american was far behind them!
