just got a 1.8 sri engine for my sxi...however i dont have the key or transponder.....
how do i get the engine to work with my key?
is it just a simple tech 2 reprogramme?!

You can use your own key, you need the chip, transponder and ECU all from the same donor car though.

was hoping i could get my key reprogrammed!
spose i shall have to get on the fone to the blokes i got the engine from n hope they still have it all!!

You don't need them from the same engine. The ECU, transponder and key chip have to all be from the same car, but the engine does not have to be.

but my 1.2 ecu wont work...so i need the an ecu chip n transponder from the 1.8...will get on the blower in the morn. cos they dont need em...i do! lol

You will obviously need the ECU, key chip and transponder from a 1.8. Of course the 1.2 stuff won't work, it's designed for a totally different engine.
As long as you get an ECU, key chip and transponder from the same 1.8sri, it doesn't matter where you got your engine from.
The seller would have already sold it. It is quite popular to do this with these type of engines, sell the engine, then sell the ECU, chip and transponder seperately.
You may be lucky though

i'm not sure, but i think that you may be able to get some of the parts re-programmed

ECU Doctor in Blackpool can sort it
send it off, comes back 2 days later
Re programmed so no key chip and transponder needed

just rung vx...basically i need chassis number and reg number of car..plus proof that i bought the engine...for the immbo code (£16)
then i need a blank key with transponder (£25) and lastly a reprogramme once the engine is in...(£25)
so £66 all in for one key!!
