1. Register said domain.
2. Find someone that will host the email, and provide POP3/IMAP/Exchange access.
3. Configure Outlook to use the server thats hosting email.

Any old hosted email package will work for you then, the spec changes if you require stuff like Shared calenders, hosted contacts etc.

Loads of places.
Major problem you will have with this is that many ISPs these days don't like sending email from addresses which are not theirs.
BT Internet have been doing it for years and Sky have just started it. Means you can't use the BT or Sky outgoing server for your golfdomain.com email address.
You need authenticated outgoing SMTP as an extra to your hosting. This will probably cut your options down somewhat.

Ian most ISPS will spoof whatever domain the client wants as long as its coming from its authorized range.

if you're getting hosting then you'll automatically have email - can recommend tsohost.co.uk and vooservers.co.uk (the former has a slower CPanel but actually sites are pretty quick, and vooservers are awesome all round but a little more expensive - a few quid or so)., both uk hosts
once you have hosting, setup email accounts in the CPanel (if it's linux hosting) and then you add a new pop account to outlook with the details (host is usually, mail.yourdomain.co.uk, usr - accountname+yourdomain.co.uk, pwd - whateverthepasswordis etc)
edit - one thing i've learnt is take out domains with another company, 1and1, uk2.net etc etc and take hosting out with another. That way if anything happens with your hosting company you still own the domain and have access to the domains control panel etc.
My recent hosting company went down the swanny without letting anyone know, luckly i just bought hosting elsewhere, changed dns details in my 1&1 control panel and i was good to go. Other people who go their domains through this hosting company have only just managed to gain control of them and it's been 3 months or so.
