Im a complete novice at all this iPhone hacking and have had my phone since the release last year, brought off ebay on o2 but but unlocked so ive had my PAYG sim in it.
At the weekend i followed a couple of tutorials and restored my phone, updated to the latest 2.1 firmware, Jailbroke it, unlocked it to all networks, setup my unlimited edge on PAYG and put cydia and installer on. The additional features are great and if i can do it anyone can.
So far ive got:
MivTones: Video ringtones
MxTube: useful for downloading clips from youtube then using SSH to transfer them to the var/root/mivtones file to use as a video ringtone
PSX emulator: with crash bandicoot so far
GBA emulator: with mario kart and mario advance do far
MMS: all setup and working and my credit does not go down when using, can send and recieve.
Around me: good use of the gps positioning for finding local resturants, petrol stations etc
Swop tunes: good for syncing to 2 itunes.
Boss Pref: handy for easy to use toggle switches for SSH, EDGE, WIFI etc.
Let me know what you got:

How well do the emulators run, out of interest? Had them on my PDA back in the day and they weren't too hot, refreshed pretty badly.

TBF not brilliantly, the slower ones work better, ie mario kart is jumpy however mario world is definately playable. I think games like broken sword/monkey island would be much better due to the nature of the games.
lets face it though, for most people its just so they can say down the pub 'ive got playstation on my phone'

Yeah, definitely
I found the key configuration silly too.
The video ringtones sound neat tho.

Yes, why can't you send MMS by default. Seems silly, not that I ever use it, or the camera for that matter.

Because on the contract with unlimited edge you can send any pictures you wish via email for free not much use if you want to send it to a phone that cant accept email, i think apple must have been expecting everybody in the world to get one

Do it Dave, you can always revert back if you don't like the naughty side.
Just think you can send pics of little Bevan to potential fanny.

Nope you dont get an SMS when someone sends you an MMS.
Nice one Joe, do you get a little green 'M' that lights up at the top when you go into MMS
Dave17: Jailbreaking is the way forward, you can just restore through iTunes if you dont like it but trust me you will.
Quake is on there, just been playing it at work and its
