Alright chaps,
Need to get my X-Box hooked up to live, but my router thingy is all the way downstairs & I cant move it because it needs to be connected to my BT Vision box.
So, i've got 2 options (as far as I know) I can either run the cable all the way downstairs, or, run an outside cable from my bedroom down the wall & back in downstairs near to where the router is. Both seem like hard work & I cant really be arsed with hardwork
Is there anyway I can run it through my PC at all? Its connected to the Internet via wireless, can you hook the X-Box up this way at all? Would make life a hell of a lot easier if I can.
Cheers
P.S - I know I can buy a wireless connector for the x-box, but there about £50, and I'm not that bothered about playing Live to shell out that kind of cash

Will have a shufty through the booklet when I get home and see if I can work it out. I'm not great with stuff like this though, so expect another few posts asking what I need to do later tonight

When I had my Xbox, I had the wireless adapter and it was shocking. It would cut off randomly and very frequently. The router was only 5 metres away ffs! So fired in the ethernet, was 10x better. PS3 doesn't have any issues with the wireless though

its because xbox uses technologies developed for the future of the internet and playstation just added a blu-ray drive and wifi card to a ps1 to make the ps3

I prefer Wired over Wireless anyday for things that require low pings and reliable connection, such as gaming. Browsing the internet, watching videos etc doesnt really require that level of accuracy so wireless is fine

Crossover cable
Just got round to sorting the this out now & want to check i've done it right
I've run a crossover cable from my X-Box into the etranet socket on my PC, and my modem is now showing multiple networks instead of just the one like before.
I've gone onto the X-Box live screen to sign up (which it's letting me do) so i'm guessing it has worked
Sorry for being such a thick cunt

If it's working it's worked
There will be the network your computer has created between the xbox and the pc so that's fine.
