A bit of petrol wont burn them out.. They have bloody hot exhaust gasses running through them for years so a few minutes of burning in petrol isnt going to do sod-all..

Thought that was down to the silencer tbh. I have a custom backbox on my Corsa with no baffles and it sounds exactly the same as my standard one did

you have to take the middle box out to get any sound differnt dont matter what back box you have ?

I know what a baffle is, I just didn't realise that the standard backboxes had them.

Baffles are bits of metal with holes in them, normally standard on cars, straight through exhausts have glass wool and aren't called baffles.

So basically the only way you're going to cut them is with some very handy tin snip work or with an oxy acetelene torch.
Can you not knock them out with a dirty big lump of metal bar?
