now then people, hope someone can give me a bit of advice, my girlfriend has a 97 corsa b 1.2 8v and i was told by a mate of mine that the tappets are making a bit of noise, is it possible to adjust them or is it something that needs to be replaced? cheers peeps

the tappets are hydraulic so no adjustment. Try a full oil change maybe an oil flush first before changing the tappets as its a cambelt of and cam out job.

Try thicker oil if the oil level is normal

How can you tell him this without diagnosing it? It could be tappets, oil not thick enough (i've had a 1.2 8v before tap, filled with thicker oil, tapping gone), not enough oil, a couple of things, that are cheaper to try before diving in at the deep end..
