new engine, went to pvs and within the last 10 miles back noticed smoke from the rear. blue smoke. just done the rings so cant imagine it to be that.

took the cam cover off to find oil everywhere and took the plugs out to find the entire hole all the way down including the plugs covered in oil. the pistons also seem wet and have lumpy (possibly) carbon deposits on them. we have literally just done the rings so i like to think its not them. is it possible for the oil in the rocker to get down past the plugs onto the pistons if the gasket isn't sealed properly?

Did you have the stem seals changed?

I would suspect the valve stem seals were not fitted correctly, but without removing them you won't be able to tell. It's possible the rings have nipped in but very unlikely. Best be do a leakdown test to check that and go from there. If the rocker cover has leaked oil into the spark plug wells then it hasn't been fitted correctly, would make me doubt the rest of the work to be honest.

The gasket was fitted again after being taken off once for prison rings. When I fitted it I knew it was hanging out one side but thought I had it in the right place to put back on. Obviously not. Just done compression test and they all read between 14-15 bar, or around 200 psi ?

briefly reading through, id imagine the oil sat in the spark plug area is the same as what happened to mine. the cam gasket goes around the inside area and weeps oil down there showing no visible symptoms until you pull a lead off. i just caked it with gasket sealer and haven't had any more issues

as for the blue smoke its ether one of the already stated, stem seals, rings or possibly HG. have you done a compression test on it?

How have you been driving the car whilst the new rings are bedding in and what oil are you using?
