well i have got me 2.0 16v corsa finally running, however i have fitted all new brakes, this includes drums/shoes and new 4-pot wilwood front brakes.... now the brakes were bled with the engine off obviously as it was not running at the time and the pedal feels strong with not much travel......
but now we got the engine started the brakes are really really spongy BUT only when the engine is running,
do you think its could be the master cylinder as my mate was abit ferocious as we used the brake pedal to bleed them which i no is wrong but hey ho!
i have bought that kit from halfords to do it again if i change the master cylinder

have you got the brake servo vacuum pipe fitted correctly

well it has never bin off or touched, and ive only changed the brakes from my v6 ones thats it but the whole brake system needed bleeding and it took twice going round the car easy to get air out all done with the brake pedal which leads me to think its the brake master cylinder seals....

I thought thats how you bleed the brakes?
How elese do you do it?
Also have you fitted braided lines as that makes a difference?

What ant said, your master cylinder might not be up to the job of 4 pot brakes, try some st/steel hoses and bleed very carefully.

well there are fair few people who have fitted 4-pots to corsa's with no problems so dont see them being an issue and there not biggest caliper in the world, well not as big hi-specs or reyland ones
they are wilwood midilite calipers............
thing is when the engine is off the pedal pumps pretty solid but loses it after the engine is running and goes mega spongey...
and using the pedal to bleed brakes can make the seals flip over causing it to not function correctly..heard it few times before and few others have said it on here......
discs are only 288mm so not massive

They look really nice ,I see you have the hoses also, it is possible the seal is not working correct in the master , try bleeding them again all wheels, have you tried stopping the car with them how to they feel then.

In fact I like them a lot how much and from where, I could upgrade my v6 set up.

have bled the whole car, it does brake but pedal goes along way down.........
whats the bleeding circuit as i did front left/rear right so on..........
they are from rally design.co.uk but are not cheap your are looing at near 600 quid with hoses and pads etc

Have you got the caliper on the right way round , i had this problem and didnt evan think about checking for that then a mate seen it, i felt such a t**t .

wilwood 4-pots have 4 bleed nipples one per cylinder so no matter what way round ur caliper is 2 will always be at the bottom

If you have not done so bleed both bleed nipples at the same time make up a t-piece or even buy two non return valve bleed tubes and try bleeding again as you might still have trapped air in the system,start at the rear n/s then rear o/s front n/s front o/s master. is the car lowered at the rear more than 40mm as the bias valve on the rear might need to be extended ,still need to do mine to get more power to the fronts. hope you get it sorted.

Air technically shouldn't be coming out of the bottom, didn't know they had 4 bleed nippples though.
Did you use the top one to bleed them?

should only need to bleed the top one, I had same problems as you describe although i only noticed it after car wasn't my daily drive anymore suspect this is the case here. I tried all sorts in the end I went to a pedal box set up.

well if they dont work better in the end i may go back to v6 ones or somat as cant drive it like that lol
and sell em lol but to me it still feels like its the brake master cylinder as my mate was abit ferocious with the pedal when bleeding as he did not realise you need to be slow and gentle...........
gonna try bleeding them again weekend all 4 corners so see what happens and brake master cylinders are dirt cheap from scrappy so wont be that bad to try a different one.

cant you just go to a local garage and get them bled profesionally?
due to the way the vacuum works i think you need the engine running but im probably wrong. once was told by a handy mechanic just fill up you reservoir and open the blled valves and let gravity do its thing.

ok i bought that gunson eezibleed kit from halfords which looks a good bit of kit, but im yet to bleed them, doin it saturday

let us know how you get on, i suspect i know the reslut... if the m/c doesnt help try the servo, its the only thing i didnt change on mine before i ripped the std set up out (at a cost of £400)
