I have just taken the sump off because its leaking and ive noticed there is a plate that comes off when the sumps taken, which is the same size as the sump..
Now there is 2 sump gaskets on there and you only get one in the pack i bought...
Can i leave this plate off and if not why not..........

(guessing as you'ev not said which engine)
You'll find there are 2 gaskets needed, one is to go between the engine block and baffle plate, then the second to fit between the baffle plate and the sump.
You can not remove it as it is there to stop oil surge.

yea its somehting to do with how the oil flicks about etc hjas to go on
